As a developmental editor, I focus on the “big picture” to make sure the story they are telling is as clear, consistent, and compelling as possible. I evaluate elements such as plot, characterization, dialogue, pacing, conflict, point of view, and theme, and flag narrative pitfalls that may be holding the story back.
